Happy Cities and Meaningful Access Consulting are developing a multi-year accessibility plan for the City of Langley that aims to align with the Accessible British Columbia Act to remove barriers and ensure inclusion.

The approach includes an environmental scan, extensive community consultation, and co-creation of the plan. The plan will address the six legislated focus areas of the Accessible British Columbia Act:

  • Employment

  • Delivery of service

  • Built environment

  • Information and communications

  • Transportation

  • Procurement

For each area, we will outline the City’s existing efforts and identify areas for improvement.

The plan will be developed by working closely with the City of Langley’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC), City staff, and community members. The plan will aim to provide actionable outcomes through a multi-year roadmap with measurable indicators and accountability standards tied to the AAC’s review cycle, and will reflect Langley-specific considerations, such as demographic shifts and local accessibility challenges.

The Draft Accessibility Plan will be presented to the City of Langley’s Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) for review and feedback. The feedback from AAC will guide improvements to strengthen the final plan, which will then be presented to City Council for endorsement and adoption.
